Is GitHub having problems today?
This is the realtime overview and outage history for GitHub. When GitHub stops working, it can be extremely frustrating, so we built this tool to help.
Why check the GitHub server status?
By checking the operational status of GitHub, you can determine if the problem is on your end (like your local WiFi or internet provider) or if it's a widespread server issue. If the servers are down, there is nothing you can do but wait for their engineers to fix the problem.
How to fix connection issues if GitHub is NOT down
When the GitHub servers are online but you are experiencing errors, here is what network experts recommend.
- Unplug your WiFi router for 30 seconds and plug it back in.
- Open an incognito or private browsing window and try accessing github.com again.
- Disable any active VPNs or proxy servers temporarily.
- Update your mobile app or web browser to the newest release.
Major disruptions to cloud infrastructure usually take anywhere from a few minutes to several hours to fully resolve.
